Ohio Roberts shocks Ohio State in massive March Madness

Cinderella stamped her slipper in advance of the 2021 NCAA tournament.

Oral Roberts, with his modest 16–10 record and 15th seed in the South Region, met No. 2-seeded Ohio State in a 75–72 over Friday in West Lafayette, Indiana.

It was Oral Roberts’ first NCAA Tournament win since 1974 and their sixth consecutive win this season. They are the 15th seed of the ninth number to defeat the number 2 seed.

The Golden Eagles shocker sends them to a second-round matchup against Florida on Sunday, defeating Virginia Tech on the first day.

Oral Roberts was led by Kevin Obanor with 30 points, 20 of which came in the second half, and 11 rebounds. Max Abbas scored 29 points for the Golden Angels.

Ohio State was led by EJ Liddell’s 23 points and 12 rebels. Liddell sent the game to overtime with a 3-pointer just before the buzzer in regulation. Duane Washington scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds.

Ohio State was victimized by poor free-throw shooting, making it only 9-of-18 in the game.
