Police said a retired Connecticut soldier was killed during a punch attack while vacationing in Las Vegas.
Thomas Driscoll, a 22-year-old veteran of the Connecticut State Police, died of head and neck injuries early Sunday after being attacked by a stranger who police say is a woman on a pedestrian bridge on the Las-Vegas Strip And a woman was chased, police said.
Report of an arrest Received by Las Vegas Review-Journal Indicates that 57-year-old Driscoll was with a woman on a walkway near Balli when they passed a group of men.
One man in the group, identified as 33-year-old Brandon Leth, then made a comment about Driscoll and the woman walking through them, prompting Leith to run into the pair and then retire under an escalator Waited for the policeman. Police said.

Leith then allegedly punched Driscoll, sending the retired policeman to the ground. Driscoll was later pronounced dead in a hospital and a coroner decided to commit a murder upon his death.

Leith appeared in court on Wednesday on a murder charge in a preceding confrontation, which he refused to attend before being bitten by a judge and ordered to return to court later this month, Review-Journal reported.
“It’s very serious,” Leith told the judge. “This is my life. Ma’am, I did nothing wrong.”
The newspaper reported that Driscoll, an avid traveler, was on his way to Las Vegas for a walking tour along the West Coast.
Brian Hussea, 28, who regarded Driscoll as a father, was 28 years old, “it was a violent end for such a gentleman.”
Driscoll worked with the Connecticut State Police for more than two decades, primarily as a member of a bomb squad at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. He retired as a police officer in 2009, the state police told the newspaper in a statement.
“We are sorry to hear that he died after the attack,” the agency said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”
Driscoll, a native of Chocopy, Massachusetts, remained a positive force in Hassia’s life, whom he had known for 20 years, despite attending with his mother Annie Chong of Windsor.
