Russia insists on international effort to spread Israeli-Hamas Gaza conflict

Russian officials on Wednesday called for a spread to intervene as a “quartet” of international intermediaries and escalate the fighting between Israeli and Hamas-led Palestinian terrorists.

According to reports, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking after meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said the meeting is the “most intense task” to resolve the escalating conflict, which has claimed dozens of lives in the past three days .

The four arbitrators include Russia, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations.

“Today I think we have reached the common denominator that the most pressing issue is to call a quartet of international arbitrators,” Lavrov said in a joint statement with Guterres. The Hill reported.

Lavrov said the meeting would be “at the level of foreign ministers”.

The United Nations has expressed concern that the fighting could turn into a “full-scale war”.

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden said that he had spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to confirm American support for the Jewish state.

“My hope and expectation is that it will be closed soon,” said Biden. “But Israel has the right to defend itself against thousands of rockets flying over its territory.”

Also on Wednesday, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, speaking to Netanyahu, “expressed concern” over the rocket attacks targeting Israel and confirmed America’s commitment to stand by Israel.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas entered a third day on Wednesday, with Israeli airstrikes plunging into three high-rays in Gaza, and Palestinian terrorist groups shooting armed missiles at Tel Aviv and surrounding areas.

Both sides have accused the other of targeting civilian areas.

There was no immediate response from the US on Russia’s proposal for arbitration.
