Scarlet Witch’s new costume is WandVision’s best Marvel Comics fan service

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, almost everyone wears a modern version of their comic book costume, and the Scarlet Witch is no exception. so far.

Vandavision Finally gave Wanda a real upgrade from her usual red leather jacket, red corset, and red … other accessories, resting her in true witch form. After teasing the transformation with a homemade version in Episode 6, the finale of the show gave her a true MCU version of the classic comics costume. And it is likely that we will see it again.

Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee as a reluctant villain for 1964 X Men # 4, Wanda’s costume hasn’t changed a huge amount over the years. She is always in red, with a long headpiece, and a flowing dress (a cape, or a half skirt) with a tight dress (leggings, unitard). Over the years, various artists have given it more or less fashionable turns, of course, but the colors and silhouettes are almost always the same.

If there is a major improvement on her original design, it is that when she started her crown, there was a nun’s wave around her face. Such weird headpieces are very common in Jack Kirby-designed characters, from Wanda to Hela to Galactus, and more. And I’m not saying that it was because Jack Kirby hated drawing ears, but I’m saying that there is a lot of circumstantial evidence.

Wanda wears a lot of outfits VandavisionThe show goes through sitcom history to go along with the Yug-Yatra journey. But she only wears two different versions of her Scarlet Witch look. One, in 6 episodes (“All-New Halloween Spooktable!”), Was teased in the trailers for the series, and left fans of Scarlet Witch very excited.

On the show, it’s a Halloween costume that claims Wanda is a “Sokovian fortune teller” (Ish, Wanda, it’s kinda stereotypical), but it has all the hints of her comic book look. A headpiece in the shape of a cape, opera gloves, tights, unitard and a scarlet of all.

Then, in the series finale, as she defeated Agatha Harkness and reached her peak of self-realization, Wanda found her magical girl as her new form was formed around her from thin air:

Vandavision The show channeled the transformation through other moments when Agatha or another witch tapped into her magical powers. In moments of extreme intensity, it seems as if witch magic can make a sick-ass crown on your head, and if you’re a Scarlet Witch, it’s a red crown with double digits.

This is definitely not the last when we get to see Wanda’s new look. She will come back in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Where we’ll probably find out all about that mysterious end-credits scene Really Means.
