The Yankees have taken care of business thus far this week against bad baseball teams. This is their best chance to get fat. Beat the bad teams and get yourself in a good position before the final nine games. Those final nine come against the Red Sox and Blue Jays, who they are tied with for the Wild Card, and the Rays, who are now running away with the AL East. The Yanks must take advantage of their upcoming series against the Indians and Rangers if they want to get in the Wild Card game.

To talk about this week’s play and what lies ahead, we bring you a new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Jeff Nelson, featuring an interview with Yankees fan and actor Steve Schirripa.

Pinstripe Pod Opening Segment with Chris, Jeff & Jake:

  • SCHEDULE: Yankees must get fat and win all these games against bad teams. The Orioles are a terrible team and have been horrible for the past two decades. Brett Gardner has proven the guys wrong as he is hitting well. Gleyber Torres has moved to second base.
  • WILD CARD: If it ends in a three-game tie for the Wild Card, the Yankees could be in trouble. There is the potential for multiple games just to get to the ALDS and you would be using your best pitchers. Who will prevail?

Actor, Yankees fan, “Talking Sopranos” podcast co-host

  • YANKEES FANDOM: Used to be a Mets fan. A bad experience with the Mets and getting bad seats for a game from them turned him away. The Yankees treat him well when he comes to Yankee Stadium. Has a program signed by Mrs. Babe Ruth.
  • ACTORS: Robert De Niro was a jerk when they met. Loved working with Paul Savino and Danny Aiello. Loves Nick Turturro, although he gets crazy with the Yankees and his ups and downs.
  • SOPRANOS: Tells the story of how he got the role of Bobby Baccalieri, paying his way his first year on the show, how great a guy James Gandolfini was.
