Amy Grant’s recent involvement in a bicycle accident has had fans worried about her health. The singer was rushed to the hospital after the accident near Nashville’s Harpeth Hills Golf Course. The information was released a week after the American singer was honoured by the Kennedy Center and the likes of George Clooney and U2. …
Earlier this season, Islanders coach Barry Trotz admitted he’d be remiss to split up Anders Lee and Mathew Barzal on the team’s top forward line.
But when Barzal missed a handful of games with an injury earlier this month, it forced the Islanders to play Brock Nelson in that role. Sometimes, the best ideas come by accident.
Since Barzal’s return, the top line has stayed that way, with Nelson centering Lee and Beauvillier. It is easy to see why.
After the Islanders’ 4-2 win Saturday over the Stars, the threesome has a 59.26 expected goals rate compared to a 57.14 actual goals rate. Nelson added to the tally with a hat trick against Dallas to buttress Lee’s recent points-scoring tear.
As it turns out, this configuration works, and the Islanders are reaping the rewards.
“Leesy can keep pucks alive down low and then Beau and Nelly, they’ve had good chemistry for a number of years here,” Trotz said. “It gives us some weight down low, keeps more pucks alive in the offensive zone.”
For a long time, Trotz said, he wanted Lee next to Barzal to add some size to the skillful center’s left. Recently, he’s come to realize that may not be so necessary.
This first line can create off the forecheck, as opposed to just the rush. That was evident in Nelson’s second goal, assisted by Beauvillier and Lee after the Islanders forced the issue in the Dallas zone.
“I think Beau’s playing extremely well,” Nelson said. “Lots of speed, obviously, quickness, can make plays. You can try to get open, [he] can get you some pucks, some good looks. And Leesy, he’s been one of the hottest players in the league. You get him some pucks right now, he’s feeling good.”
Nelson’s hat trick, completed via an empty-net goal 20 seconds before time expired, came almost via coincidence. All three goals were in the third period of a game in which the Islanders walked the tightrope.
That made for a postgame atmosphere in which Nelson’s second hat trick of the season (the first was in Montreal in early November) was a bit of an afterthought.
“Yeah, it’s nice,” Nelson said. “I think it’s a byproduct of a nice pass by Beau, the power play, just being in different spots, it’s nice to contribute.”
“Anybody who on our team gets a hat trick, it’s probably a good day,” Trotz said.
It was then pointed out to him that all three came in the same period.
“Yeah, good period,” he said. “It’s all good.”
Asked if trade speculation was affecting Semyon Varlamov, who keyed the Islanders to victory with 37 saves, Trotz said he hadn’t heard that Varlamov would be dealt ahead of Monday’s deadline.
“It’s you guys speculating,” he said. “I haven’t heard anything that he’s going anywhere.”
Ryan Pulock’s second period slap shot goal clocked in at 100.8 miles per hour, per MSG.
The Islanders honored Jean Potvin, their former defenseman who died Tuesday, with a moment of silence and video tribute.
The fiancée of a billionaire banker’s son who died while trying to save her when she went overboard during a Florida fishing tournament doesn’t remember moments of the deadly accident, officials said.
Andrea Montero, 30, hit her head at some point when she went overboard as she and her fiancé, Juan Carlos Escotet Alviarez, 31, tried to snag a sailfish from a 60-foot boat — but she doesn’t recall if the injury occurred when she fell or when she was rescued by the crew, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials told the Miami Herald.
“Rough as it was, she couldn’t say whether it was when she went over or coming back in,” FWC spokesman Jason Rafter told the newspaper. “She doesn’t remember when it happened.”
Montero and Escotet Alviarez — the youngest son of Banesco founder and president Juan Carlos Escotet Rodriguez — had been taking part in a fishing tournament organized in Key Largo when she fell from the vessel’s stern as it moved backward, FWC officials said.
Her fall roughly six miles off the coast of north Key Largo prompted Escotet Alviarez to leap into the water to save her, officials said.
He died when he was hit by the boat’s propeller, while Montero managed to avoid the large and likely razor-sharp blades.
Montero, who was reportedly set to marry Escotet Alviarez in November, could not be reached for comment, the Herald reported late Monday.
An investigation into the horrific incident is ongoing and additional details may take months before they’re released, according to the newspaper.
But authorities said the boat was moving backward when Montero fell overboard, indicating the anglers were likely fighting a fish at the time.
Professional anglers, meanwhile, said someone falling into waters as a boat moves backwards can spell disaster in an instant.
“If I’m backing down on a fish and someone falls in while the boat is going backwards, there is a real possibility that they are going to end up in the propeller,” Larry Wren, captain of First Choice Charters, said.
Wren likened it to a car driving in reverse with someone atop its trunk.
“If you fall off, you’re under the vehicle,” Wren said, adding that anyone who comes in contact with large boat propellers isn’t likely to survive. “It’s a tragedy, but it can happen any day. It’s the same as a marlin jumping into the boat and spearing someone. It happens.”
Escotet Alviarez was the director of Banesco USA, according to its website. Multiple messages seeking comment from the company were not returned.
David Dobrik called the 2020 accident that seriously injured his former friend Jeff Wittek the “biggest regret” of his life.
“At the end of the day, I was the one f–king driving it. It was my video,” Dobrik, 25, said on his “VIEWS” video podcast Tuesday, taking the blame for Wittek, 32, swinging from a rope attached to an excavator vehicle that he drove.
“He got hurt because I was driving,” Dobrik went on. “That’s it, and I f–king know that, and like I said, any chance I would get, I would take that back. … That’ll be the biggest regret of my life, my entire life.”
He added, “I really hope there’s not a moment that I regret as much as that one.”
Dobrik even went so far as to say that he wished “it was me up there” instead of Wittek.
In a YouTube series called “Don’t Try This at Home,” Wittek blasted the vlogger in April 2021 as the “f–king idiot” behind the wheel who left him with severe facial injuries.
“I didn’t know I was going to go that fast so I grabbed the f–king rope and I tried to make a goddamn funny video for people,” he said of the June 2020 incident, “but this is where I made a mistake; I forgot the biggest f–king idiot I know was driving it.”
Wittek added on his “Jeff FM” podcast in February that he’s been “protecting this guy for so long, and there’s so much to this story than just him not texting me for a week after I had such a drastic surgery where I could’ve been blind.”
While Dobrik has verbally taken responsibility as the driver during the horrific accident, he also believes Wittek’s harsh words are due to him claiming that the whole dangerous stunt was Wittek’s brainchild.
“I think one of the main reasons Jeff is bummed with me right now is because he saw me do an interview where I said something that I promised him I’d keep between us,” Dobrik shared on the podcast Tuesday.
“He’s pissed that I broke a promise. He’s like, ‘Can you promise me one thing? Can you just promise that no one ever knows that this was my idea?’”
Wittek did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Traffic on Interstate 25 was backed up for hours after at least two separate multi-vehicle pileups occurred Sunday.
Winter weather made the situation more difficult as road closures and traffic jams plagued the highway.
Denver police tweeted they were investigating a multiple-vehicle crash around 4pm on the northbound I-25. According to the Denver Fire Department, at least 50 vehicles were involved.
No serious injuries were reported.
The northbound lanes were closed as traffic was diverted onto surface streets. The Denver Police Department issued accident alerts after the crashes.
Hours earlier, another multiple-vehicle crash occurred on the southbound I-25 with at least 20 vehicles.
Five people were reportedly injured in the crash, but there were no fatalities, said authorities. The crash was weather-related and lanes were closed by crews.

The same week Cowell got into his second e-bike crash, he also lost a tooth and got COVID-19.
“In one week, I broke my wrist, tooth fell out because I was eating peanut brittle, [and then] a day after that, I tested positive for COVID,” Cowell told Extra on Thursday.
The “America’s Got Talent” judge, 62, added that he was in a “daze” after he “slipped off” his electric motorbike earlier this month.
“I was riding my bike… I went around a corner too fast,” he told the outlet. “That was it, knocked myself out. There were some people nearby, thank God, so they stopped the traffic… I was in a bit of a daze… I got back on my bike and drove one-armed back to the house. That’s how nutty I was.”
The former “American Idol” judge previously confessed that he wasn’t wearing a helmet when the accident occurred, but that’ll change in the future.
“I’m a bit of a nutter,” Cowell told the Daily Mail at the time. “I’ll definitely wear a helmet next time.”
However, Cowell may not need to wear one if he gives up the cycling hobby altogether, since it’s his second accident in less than two years.
In August 2020, the record executive got into his first accident which resulted in the Brit breaking his back in three places while riding a $20,000 bike outside his Malibu mansion. He underwent a six-hour surgery at the time to repair his spine, and doctors had to insert a metal rod into his back.
Cowell — who got engaged to Lauren Silverman in January — was recently spotted with a neon cast signed by his 7-year-old son Eric.
Miss Alabama 2021 Zoe Sozo Bethel died Friday after sustaining serious head injuries in an undisclosed accident eight days earlier.
The beauty queen’s parents confirmed her death in a Sunday post to her Instagram page.
“On Friday, February 18, 2022, at approximately 5:30AM Eastern time in Miami, Florida, our beloved Zoe Sozo Bethel passed from this life into the next as a result of succumbing to her injuries,” they wrote.
Bethel’s passing came four days after the family had confirmed that she’d been in an accident, writing: “Zoe had an accident Thursday night, February 10th, & sustained severe damage to her brain/brainstem & is in a coma.”
“Unfortunately the doctors are saying the damage cannot be repaired & that she may not have much time left,” they added. To cover the Alabama native’s medical and other expenses, the family created a GoFundMe page, which has raised over $40,000 at the time of writing.
The Post has reached out to her family members for comment.
Along with being named Miss Alabama 2021, the mother of one was a conservative commentator who was involved with organizations such as Project Veritas, Liberty University and Turning Point USA, the Heavy reported.
Bethel was also a reporter for Right Side Broadcasting Network and a brand ambassador and executive producer of Miss Liberty USA.
Bethel’s former colleagues and admirers have flocked to social media to mourn the model’s passing.
“I’m shocked and saddened by the death of such a wonderful young lady,” wrote right-wing speaker Brandon Tatum on Instagram. “@zosobe was such a bright spot in every room she entered. She was beautiful inside and out.”
The Truth Gazette offered their condolences on Twitter, writing: “If you were lucky enough to know her, you loved her. Even if you never met her but got the chance to follow her work over the years, you felt like you knew her.
“She just had that big of a personality,” they added. “She was so incredibly bold in her beliefs and values.”
Bethel’s former employer Turning Point USA even shared a video tribute to YouTube, which featured a montage of photos of the deceased model.
“We are so honored to have known Zoe Sozo Bethel,” it wrote in the caption. “She has been a pillar in the Conservative movement, always moving with grace, elegance and wisdom.
“She has inspired many, and her legacy will continue to touch the hearts and minds of people everywhere,” it added.
In another beauty pageant tragedy last month, Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst committed suicide by leaping to her death from a Manhattan building.
A 24-year-old Russian influencer is fighting for her life after a crash while riding a jet ski during a vacation in Bali left her in a coma, according to a report.
Polina Strelets, of Saint Petersburg, has been hospitalized in Indonesia since her accident on Jan. 20, when she suffered a double leg fracture and injuries to the base of her spine, Newsflash reported.
She lapsed into a coma after undergoing an operation at a hospital in Denpasar, the capital city of the Indonesian province of Bali, according to the news outlet.
Strelets was reportedly diagnosed with a fat embolism, which occurs when fat globules are released into the bloodstream – most commonly after severe trauma.
She will be evacuated home by the Russian government in an air ambulance, according to Mikhail Romanov, deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
“I express my gratitude to [Deputy Prime Minister] Tatyana Golikova for the lightning-fast response to my appeal and prompt assistance in resolving the issue of evacuating the St. Petersburg woman,” he said.
“Our duty is to fight for the life of every citizen of the country, regardless of where in the world help is needed. The sanitary evacuation of Polina and her further treatment on the territory of the Russian Federation is under my personal control,” Romanov added.
Strelets reportedly had the equivalent of about $665 in health insurance, but a day in the Indonesian hospital costs about $3,300, according to Newsflash.
Her parents said her health insurance was barely able to cover some of the costs for her treatment so they petitioned the Russian government to fly her back.
Several photographs show Strelets enjoying her holiday before her horrific accident.
Lisa Vanderpump is on the mend after being bucked off a horse last week.
The “Vanderpump Rules” star revealed on Instagram that she broke her leg in multiple places and injured her back in the horseback riding accident — but is maintaining her optimism despite the setback.
“Thank you for all the well wishes and beautiful flowers, I am doing much better after surgery!” Vanderpump, 61, captioned a series of photos of gorgeous bouquets.
“4 fractures in my leg and a badly bruised back, but I am on the road to recovery! I will be back in the saddle of life soon!”
These are the reality star’s first remarks since the unnamed equine suddenly reared up and threw her off his back. Vanderpump’s husband, Ken Todd, later told TMZ that it was unlikely that the Bravolebrity would ever ride again.
“I think maybe that was her last ride,” Todd, 76, told the outlet. “I wouldn’t let her ride again.”
Todd emphasized that the horse was previously “gentle,” “perfect” and “amazing” before noting that even the most experienced equestrians don’t know when an animal will get spooked.
“I was there,” he said. “When I saw her thrown off, I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. I ran over there, and she was just on the floor, and she knew that she’d broken her leg straightaway.”
Todd also shared that his wife’s recovery would take eight to 10 weeks and she’ll then have to go to physical therapy.
As Bravo fans know, the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star has always had a passion for animals — specifically horses and dogs. She once said in a “Vanderpump Rules” confessional that she tried to make it to the horse stables at least three times a week.
Video shows the moment an NYPD highway sergeant riding a motorcycle was sideswiped by a vehicle and knocked to the ground in Queens — and him walking away, police said Sunday.
The officer, whose name and age weren’t released, was riding with two other motorcycles when the Lexus SUV swerved into his lane around noon Saturday on the eastbound Grand Central Parkway near the Van Wyck Expressway, cops said.
The 51-year-old woman driving the Lexis “made an unsafe lane change and came into contact with the officer’s motorcycle,” a police spokesman said.
The officer, who can be seen standing and leaning against a tunnel wall right after the crash, was taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition. He suffered multiple injuries throughout his body, cops said.
The female driver was given a summons for unsafe lane change. The crash remains under investigation, cops said.
