Two Wu-Tang Clan members to perform at Staten Island concert

They’re going to bring the ruckus.

Two members of the Wu-Tang Clan will perform at a Staten Island end-of-summer concert celebrating New York City’s “rebirth” after the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday.

Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, as well as rap duo EPMD, will be part of the Aug. 17 show at Richmond County Bank Park that comes ahead of the star-studded Central Park grand finale, the mayor said.

“It’s going to be a long show, a rich entertainment opportunity,” de Blasio said on Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning.”

(L-R) Keith Murray Funkmaster Flex, and Erick Sermon appear onstage at Irving Plaza on August 11, 2018 in New York City.
Rap duo EPMD will also participate in the show.

“It’s going to be an amazing, memorable experience.”

The concert is scheduled to start at 4 p.m., the mayor said.

It’s part of a series of outer-borough concerts beginning Aug. 16 at Orchard Beach in the Bronx, followed by the Staten Island show, an Aug. 19 performance at Brooklyn Army Terminal and one on Aug. 20 at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens.

“This is one of five concerts, all to celebrate the rebirth of New York City,” de Blasio said Thursday morning.

The “homecoming” concerts will be capped by an Aug. 21 internationally broadcast show on the Great Lawn, where Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Paul Simon, Carlos Santana and Kane Brown and several others will perform.

The mayor’s announcement comes after one of the Wu-Tang Clan’s albums, which convicted “pharma-bro” Martin Shkreli owned, was sold by the Department of Justice for about $2 million.
