TWU joins long list of labor unions supporting Eric Adams for mayor

Meyer hopes that Eric Adams on Thursday secured the support of the Transport Workers Local 100, the MTA’s largest union.

Sources said the union’s executive board on Thursday selected Adams with a huge difference of 40 to 3 degrees.

While the MTA is a state-run agency, Adams and TWU are interested in clamping down on metro crime. The retired soldier-elect officer recently accused the NYPD of not effectively deploying its officers within the transit system.

The president of the Brooklyn Borough already had significant union support in his bid to be the 109th mayor of New York City.

Powerful Building Workers Union 32BJ, Hotel Trades Council and District Council 37 – which represents the city’s municipal workforce – all back to Adams’ candidacy.

The TWU Local 100 represents approximately 40,000 metro and bus employees. Sources said the union’s board also considered Kathryn Garcia, Scott Stringer, Diane Morales, Sean Donovan and Andrew Yang before the settlement of the retired NYPD soldier.

The group supported second-place finisher Bill Thompson in the 2013 Democratic primary, and closely aligned with Gov. Andrew Andrew.
