Women set a new Oscar record

Let’s hear it for girls.

The women were in the headlines at the 2021 Oscars on Sunday as they recorded a historic 17 wins last night in the male-predominant categories, particularly for Best Director and Producer.

By comparison, last night saw 30 male winners, meaning that women carried 36% of the statues for graves in 23 categories, According to rap.

All told, 70 women were nominated this year, the highest ever. According to Rap’s calculation, 76 of the 235 individuals named this year were women, about a slice of 23%.

This is another proof of the positive trend of last year’s lineup for women in Hollywood, of which 13 were awarded out of a total of 39 winners. The margin for 2019 was slim with just 15 women winners out of 54 individuals in all.
