Hilaria Baldwin reveals ‘heart-wrenching’ talks with kids after ‘Rust’ shooting

Hilaria Baldwin has revealed she sometimes “freezes” during “heart-wrenching” conversations with her children about the fatal shooting on Alec Baldwin’s “Rust” set in late October.

The yoga teacher, 37, who shares six kids with her actor hubby, 63, opened up about the difficult talks she’s had with her brood following the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

“I’ve had to have some conversations, explaining recent events to my oldest children recently,” she said in an Instagram story on Tuesday. “You can imagine how heart-wrenching it has been.”

“Sometimes, I just freeze, knowing I’m the adult who must guide my family, but so lost as to what the right direction is. There is no manual we are provided,” she continued.

“Sometimes I catch myself, surprised that I’m in the adult position, and I’m like, ‘Shouldn’t I know what to do?’ You have no idea how much all of your kindness, love and support mean. Yes, you who are reading this. I know how lucky I am to have you.”

Her comments come just days before Alec’s first interview since the deadly Oct. 21 shooting is set to air.

In a new trailer for his sit-down with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, Alec insists he “didn’t pull the trigger” on the gun that killed Hutchins and wounded his director Joel Souza on the New Mexico film set.

“The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” he said in a preview clip. “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them, never.”

Authorities previously stated that the “30 Rock” actor was holding the prop gun while rehearsing a scene at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe when it accidentally discharged.

A teary Alec continued, “I think back and I think of what could I have done? She was someone who was loved by everyone who worked with [her] and liked by everyone who worked with [her].”

The full interview will air at 8 p.m. ET Thursday on ABC.
