Utes will win Pac-12 title game

Howie Kussoy picks his winners for Friday night’s college football matchups between Utah and Oregon and Western Kentucky and UTSA. Home team in CAPS.

Utah (-2.5) over Oregon

The Ducks have won the past two Pac-12 Championship games, but the Utes’ 38-7 win over Oregon two weeks ago was no fluke. Kyle Whittingham has had the best team in the conference for months and is due to claim the school’s first league championship — and Rose Bowl berth — after losing in the title game two of the past three years.

Western Kentucky (-3) over UTSA

The Hilltoppers lost their fourth straight game when they fell 5 yards short of beating the Roadrunners. Since then, Western Kentucky — the second-highest scoring team in the nation — has won seven straight games by an average of nearly 30 points. Meanwhile, UTSA enters off its first loss of the season, with its defense in disarray after giving up 45 points to North Texas.
