Cops are looking into who posted “vile” and racist flyers in and around a Coney Island high school Monday, according to City Councilman Mark Treyger.
“Lincoln High School black kids are a negative influence on the community,” read the flyer that also included racist imagery. “They invade apartment buildings and the police needs (sic) to be called constantly.”
The materials were posted on the Lincoln campus and along Ocean Parkway outside the school, Treyger said.
“I was informed of vile, racist, horrific, and hateful fliers posted around and at Abraham Lincoln High School,” Treyger wrote in a statement. “I spoke to the local precinct and NYPD Brooklyn South and I insisted the hate crimes division immediately launch an investigation.”
Treyger, who represents the area, said the incident is being probed as a hate crime and that school officials likely have surveillance footage of those who posted the flyers.
“This vile hate has no home here,” Treyger said. “This does not define who we are as a community. We are better than this.”
The politician said he planned to organize a student meeting to discuss the issue.
