Amanda Knox has finally announced the birth of her daughter.

Eureka Muse was born months ago, but Knox made the announcement Friday on her podcast.

In an Instagram post, Knox said she had withheld the news in order to “protect the people I love from being exploited as tabloid content.” News of the birth was first revealed in a lengthy profile of Knox, 34, by the New York Times Friday.

Knox, an author who also hosts the Labyrinths podcast

with husband Christopher Robinson, was wrongfully convicted while a student in Italy 14 years ago for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher. She was later exonerated.

“Since my exoneration, I’ve struggled to reclaim my identity and protect the people I love from being exploited as tabloid content,” she told her nearly 92,000 Instagram followers. “It’s not easy, and I often feel like I’m trying to invent good choices out of bad whole cloth. I know that I cannot 100% protect my daughter from the kind of treatment I’ve suffered, but I’m doing the best I can.”
