While the Mets’ past was not on a glittering performance for Matt Harvey’s return to Citi Field on Wednesday, the present couldn’t have looked much better.
Tissuan Walker looked like an offseason steal, with a second straight off performance each time, making it a 7–1 win over the Orioles, the Mets’ seventh straight win.
Walker gave up one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in seven innings. The right-hander has surrendered just one earned run in his last 14 innings, and he saw ERA Shrivel 2.20 (which is still only the third-best in the Mets rotation), behind Jacob Zigrom’s 0.68 and Marcus Strowman’s 2.01. . The Mets starters pitch for a 1.80 ERA during the winning streak.
A solid defense behind the pitcher has helped. The latest contribution was provided by Michael Conforto, whose diving grab in the right field gap robbed Austin Hayes in the third inning.
“Our defense has been fantastic all year, we’re making big plays, especially in the outfield,” Walker said. “I like to pitch to contact, and the offense did a good job, which runs quickly and we just kept putting it up, so it was easy for me to get there and just try to get out early.”

Smith’s RBI defeated Harvey 4–0 in the third. Francisco Lindor started the singings and moved up to second before Smith was given two outs.
Walker scored 11 straight batters, starting in the second innings. This was followed by a start in St. Louis last week, which he ended by retiring 18 straight.
