Nearly everything went right for the Timberwolves in their blowout 43-point (138-95) victory over the Grizzlies. Anthony Edwards, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, exploded early and helped Minnesota run away with the game.

He scored 17 of his 23 points in the first quarter alone, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and 5-of-5 from beyond the arc. His outburst in the first period not only got the team going but also kick started what is bound to be an incredible 2021-22 highlight-reel dunk package.

Here’s another angle on that one:

Just take a look at his elevation and the hang time:

During his rookie season, where he averaged 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists which helped him finish second in the Rookie of the Year voting, Edwards provided us with plenty of highlights last season and possibly even the Dunk of the Year

.

While he is enthralling to watch, the 20-year-old has clearly made strides this season and improved across other facets of the game. In just the first three weeks of the season, he’s already erupted for his career-high points tally of 48 against the Warriors and showed off his hoops on the defensive end with this block.

Anthony Edward’s top 5 plays so far

1. His active hands gets him the steal off of Curry, then he finishes off the alley-oop in transition

2. Like I said, it’s not just the dunks anymore. Edwards handles are making the highlights packages too this season.

This is Edwards’ first submission for the 2021-22 regular season dunk of the year award. Surely, there are more to come so stay tuned to this page for the latest highlight-reel worthy Edwards plays.
