Archie Miller, Richard Pitino fired after Big Ten disappointment

Nine Big Ten schools are preparing for the NCAA tournament. Two teams from the selection spent Sunday after choosing their coaches.

Indiana fired coach Archie Miller after four mediocre seasons, a person aware of the decision told The Associated Press on Monday.

Minnesota also partnered with Richard Pitino, The stadium first reported.

Pitino, according to the stadium, is a finalist for the vacant New Mexico job with former Nebraska coach Tim Miles. Pitino spent eight years as the Gophers’ coach but failed to bring the team to the Sweet 16.

Miller was with the 67-58 Hoosiers and never held the NCAA tournament, although many believe Indiana may have turned to 2020 tourism because it was not canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
