Artist arrested for ‘insulting’ Malaysian queen with Spotify playlist

This week Fahmi Raza, a graphic artist, was arrested in Malaysia on charges of insulting Queen Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Creating a Spotify playlist Songs with the word “jealousy” next to the queen’s picture.

Police in the country claim Reza violated Malaysia’s treason and communication laws because the playlist made fun of the queen’s Instagram account.

There was also a link to the playlist on Facebook account of Reza, Director of Police Criminal Investigation. Huzir Mohammed told the Guardian.

The play came after a brief dustup on the queen’s Instagram account when a follower commented, asking if the palace’s chefs had all been vaccinated, and the account responded to whether the follower was “jealous” by the local According to the media.

The account was briefly deactivated and the comment was missing when the account was restored.

Reza had previously parted with Malaysian authorities, once serving a prison sentence for portraying the former prime minister as a clown. Reza’s sentence was later commited.
