Ashlee Holmes Malleo admitted that she regrets saying her estranged husband, Pete Malleo, was “f—king some busted looking whore” in a heated Instagram comment this week.
Ashlee, the daughter of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” alum Jacqueline Laurita, took to Instagram Thursday to apologize for the jabs she threw at Pete amid a contentious fight in their uncoupling.
“There is so much I have to say. First and foremost that Pete did NOT cheat,” she began a lengthy statement, later adding, “Regardless of the emotional rollercoaster that is a divorce journey, Pete and I will ALWAYS be partners in life.”
Ashlee and Pete — who tied the knot in August 2018 but confirmed their separation this month — share 5-year-old son Cameron.
“I will always support Pete and cheer him on,” the mom of one continued. “His success is our son’s success. We will ALWAYS be a family. We will ALWAYS be there for each other. Nothing and no one could ever break that. Period.”
Ashlee’s contrite message comes days after she implied that Pete had been unfaithful in her reply to an Instagram user who simply asked if the couple planned on having another baby.
“My husband is busy f–king some busted looking whore,” she wrote.
Ashlee wrote on Thursday that her comment was “embarrassing for everyone involved.”
“I was hurt and my anger came from the fact that although separated, it has only been 3 months since we have broken up,” she elaborated. “We were together for YEARS and I just didn’t understand how he could start dating someone so quickly.”
Ashlee also noted that she and Pete made a pact to communicate with each other about future partners, and so not getting a heads up about the woman in question caught her “off guard.”
Though she asserted that the woman’s initial text exchanges with Pete were “classless,” Ashlee revealed that she has since discovered that she gets along with her ex’s new flame.
“I have since spoken to this woman and let me tell you, she is actually very kind,” she wrote. “I feel awful.”
Ashlee concluded by saying that she owes a “huge apology” to Pete and an “even bigger apology to Cat,” the woman with whom he is presumably in a new relationship.
“I know that this too shall pass,” she wrote. “Until then, Pete and I are going to continue focusing on our son’s happiness.”
Pete previously told Page Six that he “never cheated” on Ashlee and said that his current romance began after sending the woman a friend request on social media and liking “some photos” — after his estranged wife was served with divorce papers in October.
“I’ve never in my life cheated on anyone. I’d like to think I’m a good person,” he explained. “I’ve explained to Ashlee numerous times I have no intentions of getting back together and that my only concern is that we continue to show unconditional love to our beautiful son.”
