Asian man punched by stranger with brass knuckles in NYC

Police sources said on Monday that an Asian man was pushed to the ground and attacked with brass knuckles in Queens.

The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. Saturday when the attacker pulled out a gray sedan at 32-25 38th Street in Long Island City and dropped the 61-year-old victim to the ground.

Sources said the victim tried to fight back and punched his assailant, but was then hit with a brass finger in his right eye.

The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and Stitches Received. Police sources said that his bag was stolen in the attack.

Police could not immediately say whether the Hate Crime Task Force was investigating the crime.

During the attack there has been an increase in prejudice crimes against Asian men and women in and outside the city. The NYPD has increased patrolling in communities with large Asian populations in response.
