The Astros are going to the World Series.
Houston defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-0 in Game 6 of the ALCS in Houston on Friday night to win the series and punch their ticket to the Fall Classic.
Yordan Alvarez’s double put Houston up 1-0 in the first inning and later scored on a double-play ball from Kyle Tucker in the sixth to make it 2-0. The Astros got 5 2/3 scoreless inning from starter Luis Garcia. Tucker put the game out or reach with a three-run homer in the eighth.
The Astros last played in the World Series in 2019, losing to the Nationals. They won it all in 2017 under the eventual cloud of a sign stealing scandal than turning them into one of MLB’s most hated teams. Houston will face the winner of the NLCS between the Braves and Dodgers. Atlanta leads the series 3-2.
