Avril Lavigne’s engagement ring designer on her ‘most dazzling’ diamond

Avril Lavigne certainly won’t be saying “Love Sux” much longer.

The singer announced on Thursday that she is engaged to boyfriend Mod Sun — and shared details about the heart-shaped diamond ring he proposed with while in Paris.

Mod Sun tapped XIV Karats designer Caryn Alpert — who happens to be BFFs with Lavigne, designs virtually all her jewels and even created her two previous engagement rings — for the special sparkler.

“He had the biggest smile on his face the whole time,” Alpert tells Page Six Style.

“He knew that he really wanted to do something with hearts and have the most dazzling, biggest, flawless heart-shaped ring for her,” she continues — adding that Mod and Lavigne separately purchased heart-shaped pavé rings from her before they met, and have worn them every day since.

“They also have a connection to France and royalty and he wanted it to look like a crown too,” Alpert says, “so there’s a lot of beautiful detail around the heart shape itself.”

The 5-carat stone is set in a French micropavé setting that bears the words “Hi Icon” — the first thing Mod ever said to Lavigne — as well as their names, adding even more intimate touches to the design.

“She loves big — the bigger the diamond the better, of course,” Alpert says of Lavigne. “She’s not shy; she’s got bold but also classic, traditional and timeless taste.”

Apeksha Kothari, chief operating officer at Rare Carat, tells Page Six Style that heart shapes are among the hardest cuts to perfect in a diamond, and estimates the Canadian songstress’ bauble to be worth around $750,000.

Alpert says, “This is something that’s really unique and special to them, but it’s also the best of all worlds, incorporating royalty, the sweetness of their love and their hearts together — also, it’s a big, beautiful diamond.”

The couple have been together since 2021, when they collaborated on the song “Flames.” To prove his love, Mod Sun tattooed Lavigne’s name on the back of his neck shortly after.
