Benedict Cumberbatch Compares ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Scale To ‘Spider-Man 3’

Benedict Cumberbatch says the scale of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is on par with Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The hype behind Spider-Man: No Way Home as pretty astronomical, especially when compared to other solo Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) entries that aren’t Avengers films. With the addition of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in the film, as well as the Multiverse being unleashed, the events of that film lead into the narrative established in this new sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The sequel, which is directed by Sam Raimi, looks to be one of the largest-scale adventures any Avenger has embarked on in a solo film. Given the massive Multiverse-breaking events in Spider-Man: No Way Home, one would expect some epic events on a massive scale in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Well, Benedict Cumberbatch would agree.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Stephen Strange himself hyped up the scale of his new solo film, and even teased that his sequel will be on a similar level to Spider-Man: No Way Home:

“It’s a big, big movie. It’s going to be an absolute riot. And if it brings off the level of ambition it’s got, we’re going to have a success on the level of Spidey. There you go, I’ll put my flag in the sand.”

Empire Magazine also released two new exclusive images from the film, which you can see down below:

Many rumors about when it comes to some of the exciting new additions we should expect from this sequel. Here’s hoping that the Academy Award nominee’s teases are fully realized when the film hits theaters this May. After all, if the theater experience is anything similar to that of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans will likely be uproariously cheering once again.

Here is the synopsis for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:
