John Tortarella’s contract with the Blue Jackets expires this summer and Athletic’s Adam Portzline is reporting That the experienced coach will not re-sign with the team. The Blue Jackets’ season ended on Saturday with a 5-4 overtime win over the Red Wings.

Tortorella joined the club after the 2016–17 season started 0–4–0 under the leadership of Todd Richards.
“Taltorla is a veteran National Hockey League coach who has a proven track record of success,” Caekelen Where to Rent. “He is a Stanley Cup winner, and we consider him the right man to lead our team at the moment.”
When he did not lead the Blue Jackets to a Stanley Cup, they prepared the team for four straight Stanley Cup playoff performances starting in 2016–17. The team had one of the biggest postseason performances in the history of the NHL when it swept the Lightning winning the President’s Trophy in the first round of the 2019 playoffs.
This season, the club finished last in the Central Division with a record of 18–26–12. It marked the first full season, with the club finishing .500 with him. It did not help that this year started disgruntling Pierre-Luc DuBois out of Columbus. He was soon sent packing, but the player for whom he was swapped, Patrick Laine, also began to struggle under the Touretora.
Tortella would leave for Columbus with a 227-166-54 record. Across four teams (the Lightning, Blue Jackets, Rangers and Canucks) he holds an overall record of 672-541-37-132 records and holds the record for the most wins among US-born coaches.
While he noted that he joined the Blue Jackets as an older coach, it does not appear that the 62-year-old wants to whistle yet. With this, here is a quick passage of five possible landing spots for colored coaches:
New york rangers
If David Quinn is shown the door, could there be a return to Broadway for Tortella? He posted an impressive 171–118–1–29 record, and in 2012 a post-conference final saw the team four postshains. . . The man, who was just named the team’s GM and president Chris Drury.
Vancouver Canucks
Like Tortella, Travis Green has not been signed beyond this season and may have a vacancy in the Pacific Northwest. The Canucks and Torterella also have some history – an 82-game season that was, well, interesting to say the least. Maybe this is due to the pair doing it again?
Arizona Coyotes
Bench owner Rick Tochet is also beyond this season and could be shown the door after four seasons in the desert. Touretora could fit here with a mix of team and young players.
Seattle kraken
All indications are pointing to Gerard Gallant as the NHL’s newest club, but Tortorella can land here if GM Ron Francis wants to get off the course.
Dallas stars
Could the stars take part with Rick Bonnie, as the team made the postdainer disappear after their trip to the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals? It is possible. Tortella has some history such as Joe Pavelski (Team USA).
