Bravo should have ‘better vetted’ Jennie Nguyen

In light of Jennie Nguyen’s firing from Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” Kelly Dodd thinks the network should have done a better background check.

“Should they have better vetted Jennie? Probably. But that’s on them,” Dodd, 46, said on her “Rick and Kelly’s Unmasked” YouTube channel on Thursday.

The former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star – who has previously caused backlash over her “Drunk Wives Matter” hat among other controversial posts – explained that Nguyen’s actions and Bravo’s decision to fire her have nothing to do with her.

“This is about Bravo and Andy Cohen, not me. This is their brand and their business. If they feel they need to fire her, that’s their decision. I don’t work for them anymore. I did, and they fired me, and a lot of people think they fired me for the wrong reasons but that was Bravo’s choice,” the podcast co-host continued.

Bravo released a statement on Tuesday saying it had “ceased filming” with Nguyen, 44, after her offensive Facebook posts from 2020 resurfaced. Several of Nguyen’s posts appeared to mock Black Lives Matter protesters amid the movement and contained phrases like “BLM Thugs” and “Violent Gangs.”

Nguyen has since claimed that a social media team is to blame for sharing the controversial posts.

For her part, Dodd assured fans that she is not a racist, and she doesn’t want to be “lump[ed]” in with Nguyen.

“Don’t lump me in with this chick,” she continued. “I don’t know her and I’m not getting involved in what she did or didn’t say. I don’t know if she’s racist but I do know I am not!”

She added, “I know what racism feels like. I grew up Mexican on the west side of Phoenix with a very diverse group of friends, and I still have a very diverse group of friends.”

The former reality said that she’ll be continuing to discuss her hot takes on various “Real Housewives” stories on their “Rick and Kelly Unmasked” YouTube channel and Patreon podcast.
