Gabby Petito’s boyfriend Brian Laundrie left home without his wallet or cellphone on the day he disappeared, his family’s attorney confirmed to The Post on Friday.
Lawyer Steven Bertolino said Laundrie’s parents worried the 23-year-old man would harm himself.
Laundrie took off on a supposed hike of the Carlton Reserve, a 25,000-acre nature preserve in Sarasota County, on Tuesday and hasn’t been heard from again. His family reported him missing to cops on Friday.
His disappearance came as authorities searched for his girlfriend Gabby Petito. Her remains were found Sunday in Wyoming and her death was ruled a homicide.
An arrest warrant was issued this week for Laundrie for the alleged unauthorized use of a Capitol One debit card. Petito, 22, had a Capitol One debit card and bank account, according to her missing person’s report – but the arrest warrant for Laundrie doesn’t specify whose card he allegedly used without authorization.
The young couple had embarked on a road trip across the country to tour national parks this summer, but tension built between the two and the journey was never completed.
Petito’s family last heard from her in late August and Laundrie returned to his parents’ Florida home on Sept. 1 – without his girlfriend.
When Petito was reported missing on Sept. 11, the Laundries reportedly refused to speak with police.
A massive manhunt for Laundrie has now reached its seventh day, with further searches planned this weekend.
