Capitol rioters cheer after DC police pulls up: bodycam video

The newly published body camera footage of the January 6 Capitol riots depicts a chaotic scene as the mob attacks a cop – who begs the crowd to release him.

Footage, Published by CNN On Wednesday night, DC Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fannone was surrounded on the ground outside the Capitol entrance by rioters, beaten and chased him by a tusser.

Fanon struggles with the crowd, some happy.

“I found one!” One of the rioters yells amid the chaos, the video shows.

Fanon pleads with the crowd to let her go, shown in the footage – shouting at one point that she has children.

Fanon, who faced a Mild heart attack After the riot, the first said that the riot was “the most brutal, barbaric hand-dealing war of my life.”

After he is attacked by members of the mob, some in the crowd come to his aid, helping to drive the rioters away so that he can return to the Capitol, shown in the video.

Fellow coops then call for medics and, according to the footage, help Fanon to safety.

Five people – including Capitol police officers – died in or shortly after the riots, when supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the building in an attempt to reverse the 2020 presidential election results.

Federal prosecutors have since filed charges against hundreds of alleged rioters in Washington, D.C., district court.
