Charles Barclay compared Georgia’s women to the Bulldogs on TV

Charles Barclay blinked a few feathers in “Inside the NBA” on Thursday night when he aimed for a women’s presence in Georgia.

Repeating the Mavericks’ 115–110 win over the Lakers on Thursday, co-host Ernie Johnson praised Lakers guard Kentavius Caldwell-Pope for registering 29 points in the game. When KCP’s college career at the University of Georgia was brought into conversation, Barclay responded with an eyebrow.

“Georgia is the only school in the world where they named their mascot after women,” Barclay said.

Johnson immediately shot back in his college days after commenting on Barclay, who starred in SEC rival Auburn.

Johnson later said, “It was completely unheard of”.

This is not the first time Barclay has come under fire for his on-air comments about women.

during a 2014 episode “Inside NBA” Barclay made objectionable statements about women in San Antonio.

“Some big ol women down there [in San Antonio] This is a gold mine for weight watchers, ”he said while discussing Spurs at the time.

Barclay said, “Victoria is definitely a mystery [in San Antonio] … they can’t wear any Victoria’s Secret down there … they bloom down there … there’s nothing down there. ”

Comments from the past were received by organizations with call-outs, including the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance and the Obesity Action Coalition.
