Chuck Schumer takes stage in Brooklyn – to belt out tunes

US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer showed he could carry a tune over the weekend — although he may not have a recording contract lined up just yet.

The Big Apple Democrat took the stage with a band at an establishment in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on Saturday night to sing the Frank Sinatra classic “New York, New York” and Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” — days after the state further eased its mask and capacity restrictions on businesses.

Schumer was then out and about in the borough Sunday and tweeted, “And look who I just ran into in Prospect Park: The same band I was singing with last night!

“Alice Valentine was performing today with the dance group, Solo. They’re great!” the 70-year-old senator wrote.

The Gotham pol didn’t exactly have Sinatra-level presence when he took his musical star-turn on stage the night before, but at least he was mostly on key.

“I dig it,” former NBA player Rex Chapman wrote on Twitter of Schumer’s impromptu singing.

Another user wrote, “This is actually not bad, who would’ve thought Schumer could actually carry a tune a little.”

Other Twitter users were less enthusiastic.

“Don’t give up your day job,” someone tweeted.
