Carson Wentz could be one-and-done in Indianapolis.

One season after he was traded from the Eagles to the Colts, the quarterback could be released or traded again before March 18, ESPN’s Chris Mortenson reported Sunday before the Super Bowl.

The significance of that date is that is when Wentz’s $22 million salary for 2022 becomes guaranteed and when he also is due to receive a $6.3 million signing bonus.

If Wentz is released before March 18, the Colts still would owe him $15 million, but they would save the additional $13.3 million. The Eagles obtained the Colts’ first-round selection (16th overall) this year — upgraded from an original conditional second-rounder due to Wentz’s playing time this season — and a 2022 third-rounder.

The 29-year-old Wentz, the No. 2 overall draft pick by the Eagles in 2016, finished with a 9-8 record with the Colts this season. He threw for 3,563 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions, but he didn’t play well in a Week 18 loss to Jacksonville, costing Indianapolis a playoff berth.
