Six City University of New York professors have slammed the school’s union as “anti-Semitic, anti-Jewish, and anti-Israel” in a lawsuit.
The teachers are forced to pay dues to the Professional Staff Congress and say they soured on the group in June, after it issued a resolution of support for the Palestinian people, according to their Manhattan Federal Court filing.
“Since the resolution, PSC has continued to advocate positions and take actions [the professors] believe to be anti-Semitic, anti-Jewish, and anti-Israel,” they claim in court papers.
Five of the professors are Jewish. They say no longer want to be forced to use the PSC as their “exclusive bargaining agent,” or pay dues.
PSC did not immediately return a request for comment. A CUNY spokesperson referred The Post to a 2021 statement from Chancellor Felix Matos Rodriguez, in which he insisted that such organizations “speak for themselves.”
“The opinions or positions they express are entirely theirs and do not necessarily represent the views of the City University of New York. In fact, their statements may not always represent the views of many of their own members,” he continued.
