GOP Mayor Ashik Curtis Salwa says that if he is elected, he will be shuttering and investigating the finances of ThriveNYC, First Lady Chirlane McRae’s long-troubled mental health initiative.
“As Mayor I will launch a full-scale investigation through the Department of Investigation and hopefully Chirlane and Mayor Bill de Blasio, who have been medici on it – with our money,” led an indictment with our Post do. “There is no record of people who have benefited from this outrageously expensive program.”
Since its inception in 2015, ThriveNYC has been beset by mental-health initiative scandals and opaque finances. The program injected the city $ 1 billion in taxpayer money, which also led to some tangible results.
City Comptroller Scott Stringer previously said it was incorporating Thrive on a “watch list” of city agencies that have questionable finances. Other progressives like Rep. Richie Torres also destroyed the event. “There is no evidence that it is working,” he said in March 2019, while still having a city council.
Critics such as Salwa say that the city’s mental health crisis has only gotten worse and that he will act on Thrive on “Day 1” in Gracie Mention.
“Look at all the emotionally disturbed individuals living in the streets, byways and parks, who are a danger to themselves and everyone else,” he said, adding that he was personally mentally in his role as the boss of Guardian Angels. Done more for terminally ill people.
