Before Kristen Bell stole his heart, Dax Shepard was “thunderstruck” by his ex Ashley Olsen.

“She’s just the most wonderful person. She’s fantastic,” Shepard said of Ashley after revealing that they had dated “15 or 16 years ago” on Tuesday’s episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast.

He added, “I just saw her at a party and was kind of thunderstruck by her beauty.”

The “Baby Mama” actor brought up his past romance with Ashley while discussing The Row, the high-end clothing brand she co-founded with her twin Mary-Kate Olsen.

Shepard, 47, said that at the time, Ashley, 35, was “putting all her energy and focus into launching [The Row] in a big way.”

“So, I was able to see her meet with design teams and, like, run her s–t and she handled her [business], and it’s very impressive,” he added.

Shepard also reflected on Ashley’s personality, saying that she and her sister are very sarcastic.

“That’s a pretty weird pairing but [Ashley’s] super funny, and sarcastic and intelligent. And they are major f–king bosses,” he said.

He also joked how grateful he was to have never seen Ashley in her show “Full House” which she and her sister starred in from ages 1 to 8.

“I luckily never saw that show. Because I probably wouldn’t have been able to be attracted to Ashley if I knew her as a baby,” he said.

Shepard and Bell, 41, started dating in 2007 and got married in October 2013. They share two daughters: 7-year-old daughter Delta and 8-year-old son Lincoln.

In 2015, Shepard opened up about how the pair have been going to couples therapy since they struck up their relationship.

“You do better in the gym with a trainer; you don’t figure out how to cook without reading a recipe,” Bell told Good Housekeeping at the time, adding, “Therapy is not something to be embarrassed about.”
