DEA agent suspended due to crowd outside in Capitol Hill

According to a report, a DAA agent was suspended for staying outside the US Capitol, while a mob demolished the building.

Mark Ibrahim, an agent in Los Angeles, was placed on leave and his approval suspended because he was part of a crowd outside the Capitol on 6 January. Told Reuters.

Gaspari said that Ibrahim – who was off duty but was carrying his weapon at the time, was present at the scene, as he was witnessing “a historic event”.

The agent – who has not been charged with a crime – told Reuters that he “never entered the building.”

DEA officials came to know that Ibrahim was outside the Capitol when he posted photos in group chats with other agents, according to the outlet.

The DEA declined to comment on Ibrahim’s suspension.

An agency spokesman said in a statement, “If we get information about an employee involved in misconduct, DEA’s policy is to immediately hand the matter over to the appropriate authorities for review.”

The Justice Department has accused more than 300 people for storming the Capitol during a vicious attack that killed five people.
