Didi Gregorius’s Grand Slam takes Phillips straight to third place

Philadelphia – Enlil de los Santos was back on the lineup card, Jose Alvarado and Matt Moore were back in the bullpen, and three returners pushed back the scoreless innings needed to extend Philosophia’s winning streak.

Didi Gregorius hit her eighth career grand slam, and the Phillies defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 Wednesday night for their third straight win.

Philadelphia won three straight games for the first time as it began the season 4–0. The Phillies played their seventh straight one-run game (4-3) and are the only team in the NL East. Above 500 on 16-15.

De los Santos – on the lineup card for this one – left two runners stranded to end the eighth. Alvarado bounced back from a two-game suspension to trigger a bench-clearing event and scored a scorched ninth to make his second save.

Alvarado said he never tried to throw at the batsman.

“I only focus on the goal. This is it, ”he said.

Brandon Kintzler (2-1) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win.

Gregoris struck out a five-run first inning by edging Freddy Peralta (3-1) and winning by six pitchers. Gregoris made three Grand Slams in 86 career games with the Phillies.

Rhys Hoskins hit a single in the first RBI, and Peralta scored five runs on the first five batters. Peralta departed from there – he hit sixes straight at once – and he combined with three relievers on four ritters.

But the Brazzers rallied the night in another wintry air at Citizens Bank Park. Avicel Garcia hit an RBI single in the third inning that was almost over, but a repeat review overturned a safe call at the plate. More than 10,000 fans cheered each time a replay showed Daniel Vogelbach was out on the throw of center fielder Odubel Harera, and a brief review left the board.

Tiron Taylor connected with a pinch hit homer in the fifth against Cher Anderson, and Garcia added a two-run single with Jojo Romero to cut it to 5-4. Taylor has two pinch-hitting homers this season and three in total.

Anderson, who was 38-27 with a 3.83 ERA in four seasons with the Brewers from 2016-19, departed after 4 1/3 innings. Moore – Fourth Films Pitcher – moved to seventh place in his first appearance since April 17 after going on the COVID-19 injured list. Moore said he did not test positive for coronovirus.
