Durex condom sales increasing as COVID-19 ban eases

According to the UK-based pharma giant, condom sales have increased this spring as COVID-19 bans are beginning to decrease worldwide.

Reckitt Benckiser said the Durex brand of condoms, lubricants and sex toys on Wednesday increased “double-digit” sales in the first quarter compared to a year ago, as the lockdown in key markets decreased.

Reckitt executives told analysts Wednesday about earnings that global brand demand is particularly high in China and parts of the US and Europe where coronavirus infection rates have declined, sanctions have fallen and “worries” have lessened Has occurred.

Lakshman Narasimhan, the chief executive of Reckitt, flagged off Italy, where sex had “gone too low”, as well as in Britain and elsewhere where people had stopped doing casual hook-ups and even Established couples were having less sex, according to an April 2020 report.

Meanwhile, sales of cold and flu products – which sell under the Reckitt brand including Mucinx, Nurofen and Airborne – are tanking with “incidences” of less than 90 percent of illnesses.

Reckitt said that it is expected that 2021 and 2022 will be a “moderately strong” cold and flu season as more people go back to school and work, and social disturbances will ease.
