Varma said, “And if we find something frightening, then we are going to tell you. If we think variants are probably not a big deal, then we will tell you. And if we’re not sure yet, we’ll let you know.

The New York City version was first found in Manhattan’s Washington Heights – but officials say it’s unclear where it originated.

Varma referred to Britain’s tensions, the South African version and the Brazilian version known as P.1, as a “matter of concern”.

“Is this a type of anxiety? It can change so much that it develops our normal tests. Our normal tests cannot diagnose it, or it has changed so much that it develops our antibodies. Or it has changed so much that it leads to more serious illness and death, ”said Varma.

Chokshi said that health officials are still learning about the effectiveness of vaccines on these variants, but the research so far is consistent that FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccines [Food and Drug Administration] Will help reduce the risk of serious infection and death. “
