The South African coronavirus version has now been identified in New York City, health officials said Tuesday – as they gave an update on various mutations spreading through the Big Apple.

According to the Health Commissioner, two cases of South Africa version named B.1.351 have been found in Big Apple residents.

The New York City version was first found in Manhattan’s Washington Heights – but officials say it’s unclear where it originated.
Varma referred to Britain’s tensions, the South African version and the Brazilian version known as P.1, as a “matter of concern”.
