Health officials said Thursday that two Florida women dressed as “grannies” in an attempt to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, Drs. Raul Pino said his infrequent getup included “bonnets, gloves, goggles – the whole thing”.
The women who worked at the Orange County Convention Center’s vaccine site noticed that the women were “looking funny,” and stopped them before taking their shots, Peino said, According to WKMG-TV.
Pino said there was also a problem with the ID and driver’s license.
Both were coming in for a second dose of vaccine.
Pino said that he doesn’t know how they can get their first shot, and it’s unclear whether they use the same type.
“I don’t know how they ran the first time,” he said.
The incident was handed over to local authorities, who issued trespass warnings to women.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said that one of the women was 44 years old and the other was 34 years old, Local outlet WWL-TV reported.
In Florida, only adults 65 and older, health care workers and assisted-living residents and employees are eligible to be vaccinated.
Pino said the number of people trying to falsify his identity to get a shot is probably “higher than we expected.”
He said that security at the vaccination site has been increased.
