Former ‘Bachelor’ Matt James shaves ‘polarizing’ beard

Perhaps he offered to walk it out.

Former “Bachelor” Matt James, 29, sent his “polarizing” facial hair packing, debuting a freshly shaved face in a Twitter photo on Wednesday.

“A bets a bet @BlockFi,” he wrote, after promising followers that he would shave his bushy beard if the cryptocurrency company’s Twitter account reached 50,000 followers in 24 hours.

James — who once pretended to shave for an April Fools prank — spoke to PopCulture about the style switch-up on Wednesday, confirming, “The beard is gone. I shaved it last night.”

The shaving process was no small feat, and he turned it into a “huge production” that “took like three hours.”

Fans may someday get their hands on the footage, as he told the outlet that he filmed it and plans to turn it into an NFT for a future project.

It’s unlikely that Bachelor Nation will be brokenhearted over the shaved style, as James has faced criticism for his beard since its onscreen debut at the “After the Final Rose” special.

“I’ve never had something so polarizing on me even when I had dreads,” James said after going facial hair-free.

Fans were, in fact, supportive of his new style, with one replying to his Tweet, “You even look relieved,” while another commented on a recent Instagram post, “But now what are people going to complain about.”

While it’s unclear how James’ girlfriend Rachael Kirkconnell feels about the facial hair, his bestie Tyler Cameron might actually be sad to see it go.

Earlier in the month, the former “Bachelorette” contestant said that while he “used to be against the beard” he had since changed his mind, thinking “we’d all be turned off” by James if he decided to ditch it.

“I like the beard because I look back on old pictures of him and he looks kind of creepy without it,” Cameron continued, adding, “I think he should keep the beard.”

Perhaps every rose — and bromance — has its thorn.
