Giannis Antetokounmpo’s NBA Finals benchings are because he had to ‘tinkle’

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been removed early in the first quarter the past two NBA Finals games. It’s not his hyperextended knee needing a rest. It’s not early fatigue. It’s not jitters.

After being taken out with 8:29 left in the first quarter – just 3:31 into Game 4 – “The Greek Freak’’ explained why he is being yanked and got a splashy response.

“How do you guys say politely? I wanted to take a tinkle. A tinkle. I wanted to take a tinkle and came back. That’s polite, right? Both games,” the Nigerian-born, Greek-raised star said,

The press corps roared in laughter as Antetokounmpo smiled. Antetokounmpo helped cement the Bucks’ 109-103 series-tying victory with a spectacular, last-minute block on Deandre Ayton. The Suns center caught an alley-oop feed above the rim before Antetokounmpo flew up to swat it away.

“I thought I was going to get dunked on – to be honest with you,’’ he said.
