Giant pass razors grow up with Aziz Ojulari

The Giants moved again, and selected one player, who many scouts consider to be the best pass ruser in the NFL Draft.

Draft “Trader” Getleman and the Giants operated a master class in adding talent while maximizing future assets in the first two days of the draft. They went down on Friday night in a deal with the Dolphins, slipping from number 42 to number 50. Despite the drop, the Giants found a player they targeted, turning Georgia linebacker Aziz Ojulari into a coup.

Gettleman traded in Round 1 to include three draft picks to wide receiver Kadri Tony, including the Bears first rounder in 2022. A day later, Gettleman added the Dolphins’ 2022 third round pick.

Ojulleri is a prototype outside the line 3-4 and should be a perfect fit in the defense of coordinator Patrick Graham. At 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, he is a fast running man, using quickness and agility to move to quarterback. He had 8.5 sacks last season. The only reason he was ruled out of the first round was some concern about a dull knee issue. The Giants did their medical homework and decided that Ojulleri was worth the pick.

The Giants have two outside linebacks, Lorenzo Carter and Oshen Ximaines, who ruined and shortened the 2021 season. Carter, like Ojulleri, is a Georgia product. The Giants now have young edge options to add to a defense that managed to get 40 sacks last season, without overproducing passes from outside them.

This is a fascinating turn of events for the Giants and Gaeltman, who have never traded in eight previous drafts running the show for the Panthers and Giants. Gatelman is treating 2022 draft picks like gold, believing he will know more about players in that class than this year, with the same quantity and quality of information required for COVID-19 restrictions It is difficult to assemble which usually accumulates during the lead. Use draft.

Clearly, the Giants were not seeing a particular player in No. 42, otherwise they would not have gone down eight places. The early part of the second round went to his liking, with players he was not interested in taking – receiver, back running, safety – coming off the board in the first eight picks of the round.

The Giants have now received three additional draft picks in 2022 – a first rounder, third rounder and a fourth rounder.
