Nick Faldo wants a Mulligan for Masters shot he directed Ricky Jeweler, one of the game’s most visible stars, earlier this week.
The CBS Sports Golf analyst released a video on Thursday stating that he was merely joking and attempting to motivate Fowler when he tweeted “The good news is that if he misses the Masters he will Can shoot another six commercials that week! “
“I want to give you a little history. Number 1, I’m a British, and we only roast those we really like. “Let me just say, I am a Ricky fan, always have been, always will be. What he does for the game is fantastic, and I wish him all the best.
“Like everyone else, we want him to get his game done as soon as possible. Five years from now, he was voted by the players as the most overrated player on the tour. This inspired him to try and win the players. [Championship] Really next week. So, when things calmed down a few years later, I told Ricky, ‘Hey, I need a little needle, mate to inspire you.’ And he said to me, ‘Bring it.’ “Well, it’s years later, so hopefully he still remembers.”
Fogler, who is considered one of the top active players on the PGA Tour, never one big win, remains to earn an invitation to the Masters next month.
With no victories on the tour after the 2019 Phoenix Open, Fowler comes in at number 65 in the World Golf Ranking.
“I wish Ricky well,” said Faldo, who won six majors including the Masters three times. “I want him to play brilliantly, get out there, play at the top of the leaderboard, and it will be fantastic for all of us.
“In the future, I will avoid digging a little deeper.”
