A gunman opened fire in Times Square early Tuesday — striking the window of the famed TKTS booth, according to police sources.
The suspect sprayed bullets just after 4 a.m. on West 48th Street near Broadway, authorities said.
One round struck the rear window of the ticket-booth counter at West 47th Street and Broadway — typically known as “the red steps” — shattering the glass, according to police sources. The window is 20 feet long and 8 feet wide.
The booth — which sells last-minute, discounted tickets to Broadway shows — has been closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic and is set to reopen in mid-September.
Video obtained by investigators shows three men walking south on the west side of Broadway and crossing West 48th Street right before the shooting, police sources said.
One of the men then draws a gun and opens fire, sources said. It’s not clear what he was aiming at. But as he fires, the other two men hop into a black SUV, which continues east on West 48th Street, sources said. The shooter stays at the scene for a short time before bolting.
The gunman is described as 6 feet 2 and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and a piece of clothing over his head, according to the sources.
The gunplay follows at least three other incidents in recent months in which shots were fired in the Crossroads of World.
Elijah Quamina, 20, squeezed off four rounds at a man on a dirt bike on Seventh Avenue near West 41st Street this week after his friend got into an argument with the guy, police said.
No one was hurt and no damage was reported.
Quamina was an aspiring rapper who was out on bail for alleged illegal weapons possession at the time.
Weeks earlier, Samuel Poulin, 21, a Marine, was visiting the city from upstate Northville when he was hit in the upper back by a ricocheting bullet just after 5:15 p.m. June 27.
In early May, a 4-year-old girl and two women were also struck by gunfire about a block away from where Poulin was shot. Cops arrested the alleged 31-year-old gunman, Farrakhan Muhammad, in Florida weeks later.
Muhammad has denied responsibility for the shooting.
