On Friday, New York’s COVID-19 vaccine eligibility was expanded to include hotel staff.
Cuomo said it would be up to local health departments to determine how, where and when to schedule workers’ appointments.
The Governor’s office said in a statement, “Hotels in many parts of the state serve as regular quarantine areas for COVID-positive individuals to be separated from their families.”
“In return, employees of these facilities are regularly being made aware of COVID. The move comes after the hotel industry urged Cuomo to designate its employees as important front-line workers, so that they could be vaccinated against coronaviruses.
More than 400 members of the Hotel Trades Council trade union died after being infected with COVID-19, and union sources claim that many employees hired the killer virus.
The Hotel Trades Council on Friday expressed happiness over the expansion of the vaccine’s eligibility.
A statement from the union said, “Governor Cuomo’s order regarding hotel staff is an important development for our members and for hospitality workers across the state, who are regularly in contact with COVID-positive and quarantine individuals.” “

Alexis Santiago, a housekeeping worker at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square Hotel, told The Post that he was “relieved” by the news.
“My coworkers and I try our best to be safe in housekeeping, but given the nature of our work, we have come to the fore,” Santiago said.
He said, “I caught COVID-19 myself last year, and I am very relieved that I will be better protected by my coworkers and now.”
