Iraq TV shows militants bombard viewers with ambush

A prank show in Iraq that was ambushed by ISIS style after audience outrage in a war-torn country was canceled.

Iraq’s Media Regulatory Commission threw Tanab Raslan out of the air after showing the anger of the Iraqi audience.

The hidden camera show put local celebrity guests at the mercy of actors playing the role of extremist terrorists – complete with fake guns and suicide vests.

It was broadcast as a special program during the holy month of Ramadan, but viewers questioned the ethics of scaring their guests and relieving the audience of the terror of the ISIS regime.

Bashir al-Saddi told the Associated Press, “To be honest, it is not acceptable, it is inhumane and uncivil.”

In the most controversial episode of the show, Iraqi actress Nesma Tanneb is distressed after being blindfolded and thinks she is being torched in a building by terrorist forces.

According to the AP, Iraqi security forces come to the rescue, but Tanneb eventually falls unconscious. The positive portrayal of the security forces was one reason why some viewers were dissatisfied and disappointed with the cancellation.

Presenter Raslan Haddad said that the show has not crossed any lines.

“The decision is unjust,” he said of the cancellation.
