Javits Center Wax should be reserved for Manhattan residents

State jurists are asking Gov. Andrew Andrew to set aside 30 percent of COVID-19 vaccine appointments for Manhattan residents at the Jacob Javits Center – after learning that scores of non-city residents are on-site. Getting shots.

“We write to request that 30 percent of COVID-19 vaccination appointments at the Jacob Javits Center, located in or around our districts, be reserved for qualified Manhattan residents.” Glick wrote in a letter to Cuomo on Thursday.

“Non-Manhattan residents come to our borough to be vaccinated every day, while our own residents are unable to make the appointment,” the letter declares.

Following his request, Mayor Bill de Blasio said earlier this week that 42 percent of COVID-19 vaccine supplements at the state-run Javits Center went to non-city residents.

Up to 75 percent of shots administered at the Aqueduct racetrack in Queens were also given to people who live outside the Big Apple.

State-run vaccine sites are currently open to all residents of the Empire State.

“Our constituents are at a unique disadvantage: While Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx have dedicated state immunization sites for their Borough residents, the Javits Center is the only state site located in Manhattan and is open to all Yorkers, as well State residents who work in New York City, “the letter stated.

“It would be appropriate for the residents of local Manhattan to put 30 percent of the shots on the javits separately.”
