Jazz continue teardown by trading Bojan Bogdanovic to Pistons

Danny Ainge’s teardown of the Jazz roster continues.

After offloading All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, Utah is finalizing a trade to send Bojan Bogdanovic to the Pistons for Kelly Olynyk and Saben Lee, according to ESPN. The Athletic first reported the two teams were in “serious talks.”

Bogdanovic, 33, averaged 18.4 points and 4.1 rebounds a game across three seasons with the Jazz, shooting 39.7 percent from 3-point range during that span. The former Nets forward, who also had stints with the Wizards and Pacers, averaged 18.1 points across 17 playoff games for Utah.

Olynyk, 31, averaged 9.1 points for the Pistons last season after averaging a career-high 13.1 points in 2020-21 with the Heat and Rockets. Lee, 23, averaged 5.6 points in each of his first two seasons.

The Jazz were playoff constants the last six years with Quin Snyder on the bench, but they failed to advance past the second round. Snyder resigned in June after a first-round loss to the Mavericks.

Under Ainge, who became the team’s CEO of basketball operations in December, the Jazz traded the 30-year-old Gobert to the Timberwolves in July and earlier this month dealt the 26-year-old Mitchell to the Cavaliers after they couldn’t agree on a deal with the Knicks.
