The timeline on Mekhi Becton’s return to the Jets is coming into focus.
The Jets’ 22-year-old left tackle is scheduled to undergo knee surgery next Wednesday and is expected to miss 4-8 weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
George Fant, who started at right tackle in Sunday’s 19-14 loss to the Panthers, is expected to replace Becton at left tackle.
Fant, who was the Jets’ starting right tackle last season, had to beat out Morgan Moses for the starting job in training camp after the team signed the 6-foot-6 tackle to a one-year, $3.6 million deal in late June. Moses will now slot in on the right.
