Katherine Webb was feeling nostalgic with one of her latest Instagram posts.
On Tuesday, the wife of Falcons quarterback A.J. McCarron reflected on her 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photoshoot, in which she modeled a cropped jersey split between Alabama’s crimson and white – a nod to McCarron — and Auburn’s navy, her alma mater.
“Was going down memory lane today. Swipe for behind the scenes of my shoot with Sports Illustrated swim in 2013! Thanks @mj_day for the amazing opportunity ❤️ and @troyzan for the epic pics!” Webb, 32, captioned the post.
Webb, a former Miss Alabama, was thrust into the spotlight during the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, which McCarron was playing in at the time. The cameras panned to Webb during the broadcast, with announcer Brent Musburger calling her a “lovely lady” on-air.
“When you’re a quarterback at Alabama, you see that lovely lady there?” Musburger said. “She does go to Auburn but she also is Miss Alabama and that’s A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend. … You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. What a beautiful woman. Wow.”
ESPN issued an apology for Musburger’s comments during the broadcast, while Webb previously told The Post that “he didn’t need to apologize.”
A year after the game, Webb and McCarron tied the knot in July 2014. Months earlier, the Bengals had selected the quarterback in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
McCarron, 31, has bounced around the league since, with stops including the Bills, Raiders, and Texans. He signed a one-year deal with the Falcons in April 2021 but tore his ACL during the preseason and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Webb, meanwhile, has continued to support McCarron, along with their three sons: Raymond, 4, Cash, 2, and 9-month-old Gunnar. Recently, Webb hit back at body shamers for sending “nasty” messages about her weight.
“I’ve given birth to three whole kids in the last five years,” she recently said in an Instagram Story, per Awesemo.com. “Stop sending me nasty DMs about my weight and my stomach. My weight is fine. Do I wanna lose some? Yes. But it doesn’t have to be ASAP.”
Webb has been candid about her pregnancy journeys, opening up about the experience in an October 2020 Instagram post.
“I told my agent, what you see is what you get when I sent her these digitals yesterday. Ive already gained 20 pounds in my first trimester and I have no idea why. Especially since I threw up so much from morning sickness. They say the normal weight to gain is 2-4 pounds so I’m way past that ? Have any of you ladies had similar experiences?” she wrote at the time.
“Round three has been the hardest but thankful to have healthy pregnancy ?? Can’t wait for your arrival in April little man,” she continued.
Webb announced Gunnar’s birth last spring.
