Lightning sends part of highway through truck’s windshield

On Monday, a lightning bolt hit the Florida highway and a portion of the blacktop overturned, officials said.

Bolt sent a piece of glass of the size of a “dinner plate” of Interstate 10 shattered on two passengers, then blew the rear window of the 2018 F150, chief of the Walton County Fire Rescue Battalion Christopher Brown told the Post.

“It’s probably very unique and it will never happen again,” Brown said.

Brown said the first responders arrived at the accident site in the southwestern part of the state during a rain and lightning storm early Monday and found both passengers soaked in blood after the incident.

It can be very bad, he said, if part of the road seriously injures one of the passengers or throws the truck onto the highway.

“The occupants were very lucky,” he said.
