Nearly a year after its closure due to a coronovirus pandemic, Lincoln Center announced on Thursday that it was carrying out the show.
The Institute of Performing Arts will create 10 outdoor stages for performances and rehearsals from 7 April.
Called the “Rest Stages”, the initiative is part of the Center’s “contribution to the revival of New York City” and the Big Apple’s effort to promote the performing arts sector.
“We are building this outdoor campus to get ready, so that we don’t miss a single day when the time comes,” says Henry Timms, President and CEO of Lincoln Center. Said in a statement.
“We will widen our metaphorical doors and open, remarkable people on the first day in celebration of New York, making it the best city on earth.”
Venues will include a cabaret-style stage on Lincoln Center’s Hearst Plaza, space for public school graduates, and a reading room built with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
Programming will cover the annual Summer Concert from the Chamber Music Society of the Limb Center, music and cabaret from the Lincoln Center Theater, New York City Ballet Dance Workshops and Film at the Lincoln Center Screening.
The performance is slowly coming back to the Big Apple.
The statewide “NY Popsup” celebration, was announced by the government earlier this month. Andrew Cuomo launched at the Javits Center over the weekend with a show by pianist John Batiste.
Meanwhile, Mayor Bill de Blasio has said that the city will be offered New free permit for outdoor street performance By struggling groups like theaters.
